Movement! Video and tips from Class:

 Alright everyone!

A few people called about the video I showed in class last week, so I thought I'd put it up here for everyone to see.  Remember these essential tips for movement onstage:

·         Over-exaggerate! It may feel unusual and larger than life, but that’s the point. Often times a small move will seem either like an accident, or not noticed at all. Notice how Tyson Eberly, (Man in the video) is very big in his movements and gestures.
·         Be Deliberate: Remember, every move you make, you make on purpose. If your character wouldn’t tuck her hair behind her ear, why would you? Every move you make, right up to the smallest most inconsequential thing must be done on purpose and for a reason.
·         Emotions: We’ve learned already about emotions; but now you need to incorporate them into your movements. Notice how Tyson shows different emotions at different times? Excited at first, giddy as he unravels his iPod, “robotic” as he begins to dance, overwhelmed with energy as he begins to freestyle, etc. He never spoke, but you knew what his emotions were through his movements, gestures, and facial expressions.
