Shakespeare Conquest Class of '11
Shakespeare and Yourself: Learning Life and Leadership Principles from the Works of William Shakespeare (Online).

Registration for Shakespeare and Yourself is now closed. Please check back later for new class dates and times.

Have any of your things ever “vanished into thin air? Have you ever refused to “budge an inch,” been “tongue-tied,” “hoodwinked,” or “in a pickle?” Perhaps you’ve “seen better days” or had “too much of a good thing?” Well, if so, “as luck would have it,” that means you’ve unwittingly been quoting Shakespeare!

William Shakespeare has become a household name synonymous with hard-to-understand love poems and musty English classrooms, yet he has had a far greater impact on the world today than most realize. In addition to being hysterical, (yes, your English teachers have been lying to you all these years—Shakespeare is incredibly funny), Shakespeare’s works have a lot to teach us about life, leadership, and everything in between.

In this 12-week online class, I'll be dusting off the musty old Shakespeare English teachers have been shoving down our throats all these years and will help youth laugh as they discover that Shakespeare coined the first knock-knock joke, get creative as they learn how to write their own Shakespearean sonnets, and reflect as they ascertain and apply the leadership principles taught by William Shakespeare.

Class Details:
Upon registering for the course student’s will receive a learning packet that will guide them through the class. Each week students will be asked to read a portion of one of Shakespeare’s more famous plays and will be given a short writing and application assignment based on leadership principles found in that particular section. These assignments will be geared not just to help students understand what Shakespeare has to say, but to apply those things to their individual lives.

Age range: Approx. 12-18
Dates and times: N/A
Cost: $150.00 or $125.00 for families who have previously taken classes from me.

Individual Mentoring (online)
I love being able to work with youth in group settings, but growing up involved in a Thomas Jefferson Education I found that I felt the most motivated to go out and do something great when I had a mentor working with and helping me stretch as an individual. I'm excited to now be offering personal mentoring myself! As a mentor, I will meet with youth individually for an hour once a week at a designated time. In that meeting we'll discuss his/her educational and life goals and how he/she can start working to achieve them now. We'll set goals and commitments for the coming week and report on them in our next meeting. I'll meet with the parents and youth together at the beginning of and throughout the mentoring process to review and discuss progress made. If you have any questions about individual mentoring and would like to discuss if it's a good fit for you please feel free to give me a call anytime! (907) 315-6020.

Age range: Approx. 12-18
Dates and times: Available beginning September, 2015
Cost: $50.00/Month
