Announcements from the Peanut Gallery

Hey all!

Just a couple announcements; just to get everything confirmed.

Performance Space: We will be performing on Friday April 22nd, at the Babcock Fine Arts Building, (home of Sonja’s Studio of Dance.) With this in mind, we have to remember a few things. For instance, there is no “backstage.” We’ll have a few feet behind the backdrop and on each side of the stage with which to make our exits and entrances. There is an exit, and depending on how things go, we may pull an RV or travel trailer out in front of the exit and have people wait in there with a baby monitor for their cues.

Tickets and concessions: We will still be selling tickets, ($2 student, $3 adult) at the door, but I’m not quite sure if we’ll be doing concessions or not. I’ll keep you posted.

Rehearsal in the park: some of you may have noticed that as you come down the hill towards my house there’s a nice little park and field. Weather permitting, on Tuesday OR Thursday, I plan to do our rehearsal in this park. (If the weather turns bad on Tuesday we’ll shoot for Thursday.) I plan on doing this for one specific reason: Projection. The Babcock Fine Arts Building has a very high ceiling and as a result it tends to suck peoples’ voices up and if you don’t project properly the audience won’t understand a single word you’re saying. In my living room it’s tough to tell if you’re projecting properly or not. So the park is an excellent opportunity to practice these skills. Bring a warm jacket with you on Tuesday. I’ll be at the park early, so look for me. If I’m not there, continue on to my house.

Cell Phones: We made this rule at the beginning of class this semester, but it has been kind of forgotten. Please turn your cell phones off during rehearsal, We’re at the point where texting, playing games, etc. can’t be allowed. If you have a few minutes of free time you should be reading through your lines.

Attachments: Check your emails for two attached documents. The first is the revised rehearsal schedule, (It's also here on the blog under "Rehearsal Schedule" tab.) and the second is a “mini flyer” that you can print out and give to your friends. There are four flyers to a page.

This Tuesday In addition to “Rehearsal in the park” Everyone needs to bring any and all costume pieces they have that they’ve been hanging onto so we can figure out what we still need.

This Friday is our first Dress Rehearsal! Insane! So in preparation everyone needs to wear their black to rehearsal, be there ON TIME, and have all of their costume pieces ready.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
